Down in Dungeness

Dungeness, not a place I would have thought to go or had in fact even heard of until seeing one small image of a rickety old fishing boat in a magazine once.
After an extensive google search on the place we decided to head down to Kent armed with our camera kit and see what we could capture.
Ever since that day 2 years ago - we have been back a further 4 times and each time come away with something different.

Its fabulous for photography, or even just a nice place to head to with a picnic.
Right on the sea with miles and miles of shingle, each time we've been there we've felt like the place has been lost in time, even when there are other people around, its quiet and has an almost lunar landscape which is great to capture on camera.

Old un used fishing boats are left scattered around the stones to rot, along with torn fishing nets, rusting machinery and even old car parts and a tv! (sounds like a bit of a dump - but you really have to see it to believe it!)
If you go, make sure to take your camera with you!

On our first visit we took some landscape shots and when we went back a second time it was to get some unusual portraits.

Yes, these are of me and my boyfriend, but who better to experiment on than yourself and a willing other half?!

I have to admit that I got a bit addicted to this place, so I dragged my friend along on our next visit and got her involved, one of my favorite photos from our time at Dungeness:

Unfortunately on this day, after we were done with the photography we decided to go a little further down the road to Camber Sands and get an icecream.
It was here that disaster struck and my car was broken into.
Thankfully we had all the camera gear on us, but all our props from the photography and all my cds and sat nav were stolen. They did however leave my muddy walking boots.
Bit of a bitter end to an otherwise great day.

I'm thinking of going again to do another conceptual photo shoot there, so it didn't put me off going back!
